The brain chemistry of sex

Learning from brain scans taken during sex

Brain activity during sex is very different for women than for men. Scientists think it may be one reason that some long-term relationships lose their excitement.

European studies have actually done brain scans of couples while they engage in sex. The result is a better understanding of the release of hormones during sex and the sequence of activity in different parts of the brain—which is not the same in men and women.

Fay Fredricks talked to a researcher about the brain chemistry of sex and new information that may help some couples resolve sexual frustrations. Watch this special report Monday night on 12 News at 10 o’clock.
