3 suspects arrested in Mervyn's stabbing

Glendale Police say they have arrested three suspects in connection with a stabbing at a Glendale Mall last Wednesday.

Police are calling Shaun Geeslin their primary suspect, they say he allegedly stabbed the victim. Investigators say Tanya Lee Morales was also arrested, on armed robbery and aggravated assault charges. Spencer Kenneth Brewster was arrested on aggravated robbery charges.

The victim, 27-year-old Anthony Ely was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police say he tried to intervene in a fight between two theft suspects and three loss-prevention personnel, police said.

The incident began about 7:45 p.m., when two men attempted to steal five boxes of shoes from the Mervyn's store at Arrowhead Towne Center, Toomey said. Three Mervyn's staffers confronted the suspects and a fight ensued.

Police reported that one of the suspects pulled out a knife, and Ely attempted to disarm him. The suspect stabbed Ely in the torso. The suspects then ran to a four-door Chevrolet HHR waiting outside and fled.
