Storm spotters play critical role

Instruments and computers at the National Weather Service only tell part of what the weather is doing. Forecasters rely on trained volunteers across the state who keep their eyes on the sky.

These observers are part of the Skywarn program and they play a vital role during the stormy monsoon, helping NWS forecasters verify actual conditions.
