Phoenix police and school administrators are continuing to investigate after a seventh-grader was found with marijuana at Centennial Middle School on Sept. 18.
Administrators found the 12-year-old with marijuana and called police, Phoenix police Sgt. Dennis Orender said. Police believe the marijuana changed hands several times before the student received it.
Kyrene School District spokeswoman Nancy Dudenhoefer confirmed Tuesday that a maximum of eight students were involved in the incident.
In a letter sent to parents Monday, Centennial principal Katherine Miller wrote that marijuana had been sold on campus and that school officials were also investigating the incident.
This week, administrators were continuing to meet with parents and students involved to discuss potential repercussions, Dudenhoefer said.
According to school rules, consequences could range from long-term suspension to expulsion.
