Military vets can get free flu shots

Valley locations are offering free flu vaccinations for eligible military veterans. Veterans must fall into the eligible category for provision of health-care services established by Congress. The majority of veterans who now come to the VA for health care will meet the free flu shot criteria. This year, participants will also receive a 2009 Salute to Our Veterans calendar.

Here is a list of locations:

•  In the Ambulatory Care Clinic hallway 8 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Monday to Friday for the entire flu season beginning Oct. 8.

•  Phoenix VA Hospital, Ambulatory Care Clinic basement: 8 a.m-noon and 1-3 p.m. Oct. 29-31.

•  Phoenix Ambulatory Care Clinic main entrance traffic circle, Third Street and Indian School Road, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 1

•  Globe: 1-3 p.m. Oct. 22 and 29 and 8 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Nov. 5-6.

•  Mesa (SE) VA Health Care Clinic: 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Oct 18, 25 and Nov. 1.

•  Showlow VA Health Care Clinic: Available with scheduled health-care appointments.

•  Sun City (NW) VA Health Care Clinic: 8 a.m.-noon Oct. 28-Nov. 26 every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
