Students can be trained behind the wheel this summer through the Deer Valley Unified Community Education department.
The drivers-education program features 30 hours of classroom instruction with four hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with simulators. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a Driver Education Certificate.
The class runs for two weeks, from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday, starting July 14 at Desert Winds Elementary, 19825 N. 15th Ave., Phoenix. The cost is $275.
To participate, students must be at least 15 years and 7 months old by the first class and have a valid driving permit to receive behind-the-wheel training.
