Man arrested Sunday after police find woman's body

Police arrested an incoherent man at the home of a Mesa woman who had been stabbed to death Sunday.

The woman was found about 6:45 p.m. by police who responded to a 911 call from a relative about a domestic dispute, Detective Steve Berry said.

When they arrived at the house near Stapley Drive and Broadway Road, police found an incoherent man with knife wounds and blood on him, Berry said. A Taser was used to subdue him.

At about the time they took the man into custody, police checked the house and found the woman's body with apparent knife wounds, Berry said.

The man was taken to the hospital for his wounds and underwent surgery.

The man, whose name has not been released, is an investigative lead, police said.

It was reported that the two had been having a dispute for most of the afternoon, Berry said.
