Couple killed by racing drivers identified

Police have identified two people killed this weekend when their car was struck by a driver who authorities said was racing with another vehicle when it ran a red light. Killed were Fakri Fakhouri , 25, and his passenger, Aphrodite Morales Caban, 31.

Police said Fakouri was driving his 1991 Infiniti down Thunderbird Road about 1:40 a.m. when a car racing southbound on 35th Avenue collided with his car, according to police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson. Police arrested the driver of the second car, Francisco Javier Sanchez-Beltran, 22, and booked him into jail on two counts of manslaughter and a count of endangerment.

Drugs and alcohol have not been identified as a factor in the accident, Thompson said.

Police on Tuesday were still looking for the second vehicle involved in the race. The vehicle has been described as a silver or gray Acura Integra.
