Deadline nears for Fiesta Bowl Queen program applicants

Thursday is the deadline for applications for the 38th annual Fiesta Bowl Queen and Court Scholarship Program.

Applications for the program, which is sponsored by Dillard's, are available at www.fiestabowl.org or through the Fiesta Bowl office.

The Fiesta Bowl Queen program is open to all women who have not been married, do not have any children and who are at least 19 to 22 years old. Candidates may not graduate before May.

Each contestant must be enrolled as a full-time student taking a minimum of 12 academic hours at an Arizona college or university, be in good standing at that institution and not on scholastic probation. Official transcripts must be provided to complete the application process.

Judging is based on scholastic achievement, poise, community involvement, personality and submitted essay.

The Fiesta Bowl queen and her court members serve as spokeswomen for the Fiesta Bowl Festival of College Football representing its board of directors, committee members, volunteers, staff and sponsors.

Court members annually attend such events as the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the Insight Bowl, the Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship and other Fiesta Bowl events.

All applications must be postmarked or delivered to the Fiesta Bowl office by 5 p.m. Thursday. Contact Jordan Hackney at 480-517-6267 or jhackney@fiestabowl.org.
