Peoria Vice Mayor Cathy Carlat so far has more money in the bank than her opponent, Mark Knight, going into the September primary.
Carlat, who is running for a second four-year term, has $16,365.94 on hand after spending $3,275, according to campaign-finance reports filed this week.
Carlat, who had $15,960.94 left over from her previous campaign, raised $3,680 from Jan. 1 to May 31.
Her contributions for the reporting period tallied $1,430 from individuals, including $50 from fellow Councilwoman Joan Evans, and a total of $2,250 from political committees, such as the Avondale Professional Firefighters PAC, Gilbert Firefighters and Salt River Project Political Involvement Committee. They each gave $390.
Carlat so far spent $2,275 with Intermedia Public Relations and $1,000 with political consultant Phil Hubbard.
Knight raised $650 and spent $146.76. His contributions included $275 from himself. His expenditures include $113 for informational fliers.
Council members Dave Pearson and Joan Evans also are running in the primary. Both are unopposed but have raised money.
Evans raised $6,510 and spent $423, according to her finance reports.
Evans' contributions included $100 from Mayor Bob Barrett's wife, $390 from Realtor J.D. Campbell, $50 from Carlat, $100 from former Mayor John Keegan and $250 from political consultant Phil Hubbard. Her PAC contributions totaled $990 from the Salt River Project, Pinnacle West and Southwest Ambulance EMC Employee.
Her expenditures to date include $249 to Arizona Broadway Theatre for food for a fund-raising event.
Pearson had $4,115 left over from his last campaign and raised $2,750. His contributors included a Las Vegas investor who gave $390 and SRP, which gave $300.
He spent $3,582, including $555 for printing costs and an Internet domain purchase.
