You don't have to be Greek to enjoy the annual Taste of Greece Food and Dance Festival coming to downtown Peoria Oct. 24-26.
At the only Greek cultural festival in the West Valley, you will experience the sights, sounds and flavors of Greece. This year's Taste of Greece includes an expanded menu of authentic foods and delicious pastries prepared by our own Greek chefs, imported and domestic beer and wine, live Greek entertainment and folk dancing.
Inspired by the beauty of the Greek Islands, local artist Magda Gryparis will display her watercolors at the indoor Marketplace. The Marketplace and several vendors will carry those hard-to-find imported boutique and deli items. Church tours will be provided for those interested in learning the history of the Orthodox Church and to get a closer look at the Byzantine icons.
There will be games and entertainment for children, including pony rides on Saturday and Sunday. Enter the raffle for a chance to win $1,000, roundtrip airline tickets for two and other great prizes.
Adult admission is $2; free for children under 12. Bring your active military or student ID for free admission. The festival is located at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 10320 N. 84th Ave. (three blocks south of Peoria Avenue). Hours: Oct. 24: 5-10 p.m.; Oct. 25: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Oct. 26: noon-8 p.m.
