Valle del Sol's Hispanic Leadership Institute is in partnership with ASU's College of Public Programs. The Hispanic leadership group's mission is to promote the individual development of Hispanics for increased participation in leadership roles. It serves as a principal educational and networking resource for expertise and advocacy on leadership issues affecting Latino communities. The institute's curriculum builds from participants' experiences, emphasizing personal and professional development with sessions focusing on cultural and personal identity; serving on a board; ethics; and media training.
The AAA of Arizona is collecting plastic jars of peanut butter and new unwrapped toys this week. The donations will be given to agencies that serve the local communities in Phoenix, Prescott and Tucson and include St. Mary's Food Bank, Family Service Agency and the Salvation Army. Carolyn Warner will be honored by the Association for Career and Technical Education today in Charlotte, N.C.
Warner, a business owman and author, will receive the 2009 ACTE Carl Perkins Humanitarian Award. The recognition is given to individuals who make outstanding contributions to career and technical education in the state and nation.
Warner is preisent of Corporate Education Consulting, Inc., She is former Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction.
U.S. Census Bureau will begin recruiting for temporary, part-time positions for early phases of the 2010 census. Available positions include: Census takers, leaders, leader assistants, and clerks with flexible hours up to 40 hours a week. You may qualify if you are 18 or older, have a valid Social Security number, pass a background check, take a written test and can work up to 40 hours per week during the day. Preliminary operations leading up to the count are in full swing.
Census 2010 offices are recruiting now. The next stage of census operations requires hundreds of people to visit homes, apartments and other dwellings to verify locations of housing units. Verifying addresses and updating address lists in 2009 will improve the accuracy when mailing questionnaires and contracting individuals in 2010. Apply by calling 1-866-861-2010.
