6 children left alone at Gilbert home

A Gilbert mom was arrested after police found her children unsupervised and living in "unacceptable conditions," according to police.

Andrea Rubio, 39, was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. Monday on suspicion of aggravated DUI after she arrived at her home near 4200 S. Mariposa Drive while police were there.

She was impaired by central nervous system stimulants, police said.

She also faces charges of child neglect and endangerment.

Gilbert Police responded to a call of a 4-year-old who was unattended and crying at a residence.

Upon arrival, they found six children ranging from 4 to 13 years in age.

Two of those children were not Rubio's, police said, and they were returned to their parents.

Rubio's 10-year-old son arrived in the vehicle with Rubio, police said.

CPS was called in to take custody of Rubio's children.
