SCOTTSDALE - A Scottsdale fugitive accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend in the head in front of her 2-year-old daughter was in custody Thursday after being arrested in Texas.
Leroy Edward Clark, 32, was arrested Tuesday in San Antonio, Texas, after authorities received a tip from an undisclosed source about where the man might be, said Sgt. Mark Clark, a Scottsdale police spokesman.
FBI agents located the man at a gas station about 2 p.m. Tuesday and arrested him, police said.
Clark had been on the run since June 14, after police said his ex-girlfriend had been shot in the head at a Scottsdale apartment in the 2600 block of North Hayden Road.
Police said the victim told them she was with a male friend and her 2-year-old daughter when her estranged boyfriend confronted them.
The gunman struck the victim with the butt of handgun and then fired several shots at her as she attempted to flee the area, police said.
The woman was shot once in the head, but was conscious when police arrived. Police said her injuries were not life-threatening, and no one else was hurt.
Leroy Clark is awaiting extradition to Arizona, police said.
