SCOTTSDALE - Another Scottsdale dog store, Classy Jazzy, also sponsors events for dog owners.
Classy Jazzy hosts "Dog's Night Out" at 7-9 p.m. every Thursday. Owner Hilda Bourdamis said that the store provides pizza, wine, and live music from the Mill Ave Chamber Players. There also are treats for dogs.
Dog's Night Out gives dog owners a chance to relax with their pets.
"There are not so many places that they can take their dogs and hang out," Bourdamis said. "They can have a glass of wine in the store, and they have fun."
She said that Scottsdale residents have a special affinity for dogs.
"I feel like they really care for their dogs, they love their dogs and they treat them like one of the family, really like one of the kids," Bourdamis said.
She also holds a weekly raffle, with proceeds from the raffle going to Sun Valley Animal Shelter. Last Thursday, she raffled off a free night at the FireSky Resort and Spa.
Bourdamis estimated that about 30 people came to Thursday's Dog's Night Out from different parts of the Phoenix area.
"I had quite a few people from Fountain Hills," she said.
Downtown's Classy Jazzy sells matching clothing for dogs and dog owners as well as dog jewelry, mugs, towels, and other dog-theme products.
Bourdamis's store also sponsors a fashion show in November. The show drew 60 dogs and their owners last year, she said.
Classy Jazzy also sponsors events during the winter, including bringing in a pet psychic and a pet painter, and sponsoring pet reiki.
