A new member recently joined the lineup of auto dealers at Chauncey Ranch. Scottsdale Bentley now is located in Phoenix.
What: Bentley Scottsdale.
Where: 7171 E. Chauncey Lane, northeast Phoenix. The location is off Scottsdale Road south of Loop 101.
Update: The dealer joined the 16 other dealers in the Penske Automotive Group, including competitors Mercedes, Aston-Martin, Ferrari and Jaguar, about three months ago. Sales manager Brad Roosma says the location takes advantage of two customer bases - Paradise Valley and north Scottsdale. It is no more distant for PV buyers than the old location on McDowell Road, and it is closer to the wealthy residents of north Scottsdale.
What it sells: The Bentley sedan, coupe and convertible come in several varieties, costing around $200,000 - making it one of the most expensive vehicles on the road. The money buys a vehicle that is as luxurious as virtually any buyer could want, from the tires on up. It is not without drawbacks, however. Besides the price, eight to 10 times higher than the average car on the road, it gets some lousy gas mileage. Not that anyone who can afford a $200,000 car cares.
Customers: "They are looking for the best," Roosma said. "They have been through BMWs and Mercedes. Bentleys are the top."
Information: 480-538-4340.
What else to do: Car nuts will enjoy looking at all the inventory at Chauncey Ranch, and may get a kick out of the Penske Racing Museum, with its vintage race cars, racing trophies and memorabilia. Included are 11 of Penske's 13 Indianapolis 500-winning cars, several NASCAR vehicles and others.
