SCOTTSDALE - The Scottsdale Unified School District is highlighting Cheyenne Traditional School teacher Michael Eppley.
Here's what the staff at Cheyenne had to say about him:
Matthew Eppley provides the perfect compliment and balance that Cheyenne students need. He is dedicated, organized and highly educated in his field but loves to teach the critical thinking aspects using hands-on methodology.
His quirky, offbeat humor keeps our middle school students in check, not knowing if he is serious or kidding. It is obvious that he loves teaching and his subject area and involves himself at the school, dstrict and state level.
Eppley is well-respected by Cheyenne students, parents and colleagues. He has solidified the Cheyenne science department and made kids love science as much as he does. Cheyenne is extremely fortunate to have Matthew Eppley.
Number of years teaching: 15.
Number of years at district: 12.
Number of years at Cheyenne: 4.
Achievements: Scottsdale Education Association and National Science Teachers Association. Also served on textbook selection committees, been a mentor teacher, worked as a safety officer for the school science department, facilitated learning communities for four years and had teams place in the National Odyssey of the Mind competition for four consecutive years.
