Undefeated Firebirds in title football game

SCOTTSDALE - The undefeated Scottsdale Firebirds are headed to the regional championship game of the Central Arizona Youth Football League.

The Firebirds (10-0) will play the Tucson Wildcats at 7 p.m. Saturday at Chaparral High School, 6935 E. Gold Dust Ave., Scottsdale.

Scottsdale, coached by resident Curt Bruggman, defeated the Desert West Commandos (16-8) in last week's CAYFL title game to set up Saturday's showdown. The Firebirds are pursuing their third state crown in the past five years.

With a win over the Wildcats, Scottsdale would advance to next month's national championship game in Florida.
