What I do: I'm a general contractor who specializes in custom commercial and residential projects. My creative and artistic abilities, combined with many years of practical experience, have proven to be a winning combination.

One of my first projects was helping with the design and concept of Cajun House in Scottsdale. Other recognizable projects include North Scottsdale Dermatology, Barcelona Restaurant, and Sol y Sombra and Autostrada at DC Ranch, as well as numerous custom homes in Paradise Valley and Scottsdale.

About my business: Founded in 1999, Monzures Development is a full-service commercial and residential general contractor and designer. We specialize in high-end custom homes, restaurants, medical and retail tenant improvements, office buildings, home renovations and entertainment venues.

With more than 70 years of combined experience, our talented team is capable of providing customers with a comprehensive approach to design/build projects. We can effectively manage the entire construction process from concept and design through construction and occupancy.

What I've learned in business: Communication is the key to being a successful business owner. It's imperative that we clearly communicate not only clients, but architects, vendors, employees and everyone involved with a project. It helps eliminate ambiguity and allows us to meet and exceed customers' expectations.

Goals: I want Monzures Development to be known as an exceptional, design-build general contractor. We are capable of generating new and innovative ideas for clients, while providing outstanding customer service.

What community I live in: Paradise Valley.

Affiliations and volunteer work: I'm an active member of the Scottsdale 20-30 Club. This year, I'm chairman for the 19th annual Nite Flite event benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale.

In 2007, I was recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as one of 20 "AZ's Finest" honorees and proceeded to raise $26,000-plus for the foundation that year.

Additionally, I'm a supporter of the Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation. I donated my time and resources to design and construct the custom granite fountain in the lobby at the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center.
