Charred body found in burning car

A woman's charred body was found Tuesday night inside a car parked at a Surprise gas station, authorities reported.

Firefighters found the body after putting out the fire about 11 p.m. at the Safeway gas station near Bell Road and the Loop 303, said Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Pool, a fire spokesman.

Pool said the car was parked near a gas pump.

According to police, the fire reportedly was started inside the vehicle, and police are investigating whether the fire was started intentionally or accidentally.
