First community tour to visit Dysart schools

TOUR DYSART SCHOOLS

Dysart Unified School District's first community bus tour is Sept. 16. The free tours will give Dysart community members a sneak peek inside the district's schools. Any interested community member is welcome to sign up. A different elementary school and high school will be visited for each tour. The Sept. 16 trip will visit Cimarron Springs Elementary School and Willow Canyon High School, both in Surprise. The tours will be funded through a donation from D.L. Withers Construction.

TOUR SCHEDULE

Tours will be offered four times during the 2008-09 school year. Other scheduled dates are Dec. 9, Feb. 10, and April 28.

TRIP ITINERARY

• 9 a.m.: The three-hour tour begins at the Dysart Education Center, 15802 N. Parkview Place, Surprise. Tour-goers will meet at the center at 9 a.m. and board a yellow school bus to start the tour.

• Stop 1: The first stop will be at a K-8 school. Attendees will observe classroom instruction and other activities.

• Stop 2: The second stop will be at a high school. Participants will sit in on various courses and roam the halls. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria. There will be time for a question-and-answer session about the school and district.

• Noon: After lunch participants will board the school bus and return to the Dysart Education Center by noon.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Jim Dean, the district's director of community relations, said Dysart is providing the tours to expand opportunities for the community to get involved. The bus tours are one of the ways for the district to reach out to the community and continue partnering with them, he said. Dean will lead the tours.
