Goodyear resident Nancy Herrington recently opened a Mr. Handyman franchise serving the West Valley.
After spending 14 years traveling as a software consultant, Herrington was looking for a business opportunity close to home.
She is one of her own customers.
"While I am quite handy, I don't have a lot of free time or the professional expertise to do the necessary repairs and maintenance around my house," Herrington said.
"I also have very high expectations for the customer service I receive."
Herrington is a member of the Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce, president-elect of the Litchfield Park Rotary Club and a longtime fan of the West Valley.
She lived at Luke Air Force Base in the early 1970s when her father served there.
Mr. Handyman provides professional home-repair and maintenance services.
The service is licensed by the Arizona State Registrar of Contractors, is bonded and insured, and hires only employees, not subcontractors.
The service technicians are required to undergo a background check, have extensive experience in construction or remodeling, wear uniforms and drive fully stocked company-owned vehicles.
The company promises to be on time and offers a customer satisfaction guarantee.
Mr. Handyman International recently signed actor Richard Karn, who played Al Borland on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement, to be its celebrity spokesman for the next two years.
Mr. Handyman supports the local community by contributing to the Tres Rios event, the New Life Women's Shelter and the Litchfield Park Rotary Club.
