Store to host wedding fair

Thee Wedding Warehouse will offer a "Planning 101" wedding fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the store, 500 N. Bullard Ave., Suite C29, Goodyear.

The fair includes free seminars and workshops designed to coach couples through planning their big day. A $5 donation to the New Life Center in Goodyear is good for five raffle tickets.

The weekend also marks the final chance to enter "My Best Friend Deserves Her Dream Wedding," a contest worth $25,000 in prizes.

Flag football sign-up extended

Litchfield Park has extended the registration deadline for the 2008 Fall Youth Flag Football League until Sunday. Register at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center, 100 S. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park. Fees are $40-$48, depending on residency status.

Citizen Academy offered

Goodyear and Litchfield Park will offer a 10-week Citizen Academy, Sept. 11 through Nov. 13.

Donations will aid shelter

Goodyear is collecting school supplies and other donations on behalf of New Life Center. The domestic-violence shelter needs back-to-school items such as school supplies, new and used books, gift cards and cash.

Donations can be made at City Hall, 190 N. Litchfield Road; Water Resources, 4980 S. 157th Ave.; and Fire Administration, 175 N. 145th Ave.

Donations will be accepted through Sept. 10. Receipts are available at City Hall.

Hispanic group plans dance

The Hispanic Leadership Forum del Oeste will hold its annual Baile de Exito/Dance For Success on Sept. 13 at the Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa in Litchfield Park. The non-profit organization supports education for Hispanic students in the West Valley through scholarships.

The benefit dance will feature live music, auctions and a chance to win a diamond ring from Jewelry by Victor.

VIP socializing begins at 6 p.m. and the dancing at 8 p.m. Tickets are $50. Information: 602-291-0346.
