Discovery Channel features Hickman's Family Farms

Hickman's Family Farms of Buckeye is letting the public in on a dirty little secret.

And Hickman's doesn't mind if the whole country knows.

Actually, the farm has been featured on the Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs, and the show aired for the first time last week.

It will be rebroadcast at 7 p.m. Tuesday, and it's expected to be shown again during the next few weeks.

To see when the show will run, check out schedules at discovery.com.

Clint Hickman, a vice president for the family business, joked it was great exposure to "talk about manure."

Chicken manure, that is.

Lots of it.

Hickman said the network came out in August to look at where "eggs come from and where everything else comes from."

Hickman, whose company farm produces 3 million eggs a day, said the program shows how to run a manure belt.

It also looks at the liquid-egg production, which also can be a bit stinky.

"We showed them every dirty job we do in order to sell a very clean food product," Hickman said.

He even bought a new television to watch the show.

"I finally bit the bullet and got a flat-screen TV," Hickman said.

"I can watch manure being taken out of the chicken houses in high def. I want to see it with clarity."
