Arts grant applications available

Grants are now available through the West Valley Arts Council Project Grants. Artists, non-profit organizations and schools are encouraged to apply. Application deadline is noon Dec. 12.

Individual artists are eligible for a $1,000 grant, while arts organizations and schools are eligible for $1,500. Grantees will be announced at the 2009 Diamond Ball, WVAC's annual black-tie benefit gala for the arts on March 7 at the Wigwam Golf Resort & Spa in Litchfield Park. EMCC registering for classes

Estrella Mountain Community College is holding testing and registration for classes offered at Estrella Foothills, Buckeye Union and Wickenburg high schools.

The Buckeye session is Jan. 21 to March 11. There are two sessions in Wickenburg.

Registration and testing at Estrella Foothills, 13033 South Estrella Parkway, Goodyear, is Tuesday from 5-6 p.m.

Classes offered Wednesdays from 6-8:40 p.m. (3 credits):

• GBS 151; Introduction to Business


• ENG 101; First-Year Composition

Registration and testing at Buckeye Union High School, 902 Eason Ave. in Buckeye, is Dec. 13 from 9-11 a.m. Classes offered Tuesday's from 6-8:40 p.m. (3 credits):


• CIS 105; Survey of Computer Information Systems.


• ENG 101; First-Year Composition.


• GBS 151; Introduction to Business.


• MAT 092; Introductory Algebra.

Registration and testing at Wickenburg High School, 1090 South Vulture Mine Road in Wickenburg, is Dec. 10 from 5-6 p.m. The classes and sessions are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8:40 p.m. (3 credits).

Session 1: Jan. 20 to March 12


• ENG 101; First-Year Composition


• GBS 151; Introduction to Business.


• An additional math course will be offered based on testing results.

Session 2: March 24-May 15


• CIS 105; Survey of Computer Information Systems


• COM 225; Public Speaking.
