W. Valley bank an SBA preferred lender

West Valley National Bank has been named part of the U.S. Small Business Administration's Preferred Lenders Program.

The program streamlines procedures for providing SBA financial support to small businesses. A bank must show proficiency in issuing and servicing SBA loans to qualify.

To qualify for an SBA-guaranteed loan, businesses must be independently owned, for-profit ventures and must meet employment and sales criteria.

West Valley National Bank, in Avondale, is the Southwest Valley's first locally owned and operated bank.

Bashas' to open in Goodyear

Bashas' is scheduled to open its newest grocery store Tuesday in Goodyear. A grand opening is planned Wednesday.

The store joins TJ Maxx, Homegoods and Staples at Westcor's Market at Estrella Falls, northeast of McDowell Road and PebbleCreek Parkway. Located at 2075 N. PebbleCreek Parkway, the Bashas' features a food court and catering services.

City offices to close for meeting

Goodyear city offices will close at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 for the city's annual in-service employee recognition meeting. Public safety services will be unaffected.

Arizona Public Service Co. offices, at 190 N. Litchfield Road, will be open that day from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
