Teacher deserves kudos as Valley Idol

Who deserves to be a Valley Idol?

Miguel Angel Galindo, 25, of El Mirage, a math teacher at Tolleson Union High School and an ASU-West Alumni.

What was his achievement?

"Being an awesome teacher, coach and friend! If anybody deserves this, it's Miguel! He is so compassionate, giving, intelligent, friendly and positive!"

Why does he deserve the spotlight?

"Because he is always giving to others. Miguel always thinks of his students first and himself last! We have all heard the saying, 'Teacher's don't get paid for what they are worth,' and I have to say that it's true. My fiancé gets up every morning at 6:30 to race to the school and make copies. He challenges his students with daily wacky facts and he always encourages his kids by telling them not to give up and that yes, they can do it!

"On a regular day, he stops teaching at 3 but he coaches on top of everything else. He tells his football players and wrestlers that they are talented and he motivates them to do their best at all times.

Miguel also teaches Ballet Folklorico dancing at the Peoria Community Center and you can catch him dancing with all the little boys and girls at performances all around the Metropolitan area.

"At night when I ask my fiancé why he teaches, do you know what he tells me? He says, 'Babe, I have the best job in the world, because I get to make a difference in these kids lives every day.'

"I feel like Miguel deserves a big round of applause for all his hard work and selfless giving. I am so very proud of him and the Valley needs to see what type of teacher their kids get to interact with each and every day!"
