Buy a home, get a Segway

Taylor Morrison's history of innovative home building includes partnerships to bring cutting-edge products, services and savings to buyers.

In a partnership with Segway Inc. and Segway of Scottsdale, customers can have a Segway Personal Transporter (PT) model i2 to park in their garage when buying a new home Saturday through Nov. 30 in 40 Taylor Morrison communities across the Valley.

The Segway PT giveaway is among four packages that new home buyers can select during Taylor Morrison's "American Family Values Event," including a Move-In Ready Package with all appliances and window coverings; a Media Center/Entertainment Package with 50-inch plasma TV; or a Backyard Landscaping Package. All packages are being offered in addition to seller-paid closing costs and a 5.5 percent, 30-year, fixed-interest rate.

Taylor Morrison communities are located in Avondale, Buckeye, Chandler, El Mirage, Gilbert, Goodyear, Laveen, Litchfield Park, Maricopa, Queen Creek and Surprise. In Pinal County, Taylor Morrison has communities in Casa Grande.

From noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 15, customers can test drive a Segway PT and watch demonstrations in Buckeye at Estrella, in Surprise at Surprise Farms and in Gilbert at Lakeview Trails and Shamrock Estates.

"Through Taylor Morrison's partnership with Segway, we're able to appeal to something that matters to all of our buyers: the rising cost of gas, energy efficiency and a cutting-edge product," said Pierrette Tierney, vice president of sales and marketing for Taylor Morrison's Phoenix division.

"The Segway PT is a great fit for us as this will help demonstrate our commitment to the local communities in which we build," Tierney said. "If we can help our customers save money on their home by being energy-efficient by utilizing the latest building materials and at the pump, it's a winning combination."

According to Segway, a full charge of a Segway PT costs just 10 cents and has a maximum range of 24 miles per charge. Maximum speed is 12.5 mph but with a gas equivalency of 450 mpg, it tops that of the Toyota Prius.
