Architecture firm JMK and Associates lands in Surprise

Architecture firm lands in Surprise

City Manager Randy Oliver says an architectural and engineering firm's decision to locate in Surprise is indicative of the kind of future high-end employment the city expects to come its way.

WHO IS IT?

Nevada-based architectural and engineering firm JMK and Associates. The firm has decided to open an office in Surprise, making it the first of its kind for the city, according to records.

BACKGROUND

The firm expects to employ six people in its Surprise office. City officials think it will lead to future high-end employment opportunities to the area, and they are negotiating with two other potential employers with large payrolls. One would employ up to 800 people, and another up to 400 people. With at least one of those deals on the brink of closing, JMK's recent addition reflects favorably on the city's business climate and could help secure a transaction, the city manager said. JMK offers specialty services that would be needed by high-end employers paying annual salaries ranging from $40,000 to $100,000.

WHAT DOES IT OFFER?

JMK's services include architectural, civil and structural engineering, and land planning services.

WHEN WOULD IT OPEN?

The firm is in the process of finishing its lease agreements and could open for business this month, according to a city report. For more information, visit www.jmkandassociates.com.
