Chorus seeks members

Westwind Harmony Chorus, a prospective chapter of Sweet Adelines International, is seeking new members in the Northwest Valley. Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. Mondays at Word of Life Lutheran Church, 17525 W. Bell Road, Surprise.

The group just beginning to build a repertoire and recruit new singers in all voice ranges. Women of all ages are invited to come and learn about singing four-part harmony in the barbershop style, sing a song or two, and meet some new friends. No experience required. Fall Book Sale

Friends of the Youngtown Public Library host the Fall Book Sale from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Youngtown Clubhouse, 112th and Alabama avenues.

Books, paperbacks, DVDs and VHS tapes will be sold at reasonable prices. A handmade Christmas quilt also will be raffled. Proceeds will be used to purchase items for the library.

Mental health education meeting

The National Alliance on Mental Illness - West Valley will hold its monthly educational meeting from 1 to 2:30 p.m. next Friday at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 W. Meeker Blvd., Sun City West.

Candidates from local districts will present their ideas on improving care for those with mental illness in Arizona.

The program continues with a NAMI Family Support Group meeting from 2:30 to 4 p.m. led by Mary Baron. Free and open to the public. Info: 623-546-4011. Calls will be returned.
