Police said a 23-year-old man was a daring house guest who slept, showered and cooked for a week in a home he is suspected of burglarizing.
Ryan Hamblin, 23, took five flat-screen televisions, a Sony PlayStation and a laptop from the home in the 3000 block of East Norcroft Circle while the homeowner was out of town in September, according to police reports.
Officers went to the residence after a neighbor reported that a door was open. The home showed signs of burglary and officers found drug paraphernalia including syringes and burnt aluminum foil, according to police reports.
Police recovered the stolen items at a Mesa pawn shop and detained Hamblin on Friday evening. He admitted to police that he had broken into the home through a window and pawned the items for drug money, according to police reports.
Hamblin told police he lived in the home for about a week and slept in the homeowner's bed, used the shower and cooked in the kitchen, according to police reports.
He also admitted to cashing four forged checks that belonged to the homeowner totaling $3,500, according to police reports.
Hamblin was booked on second-degree burglary, once count of first-degree trafficking in stolen property and three counts of forgery.
