Grand Canyon winter rates
Xanterra South Rim LLC, which operates lodges, restaurants and activities in Grand Canyon National Park, has announced its winter rates and packages at the South Rim. The "Winter Value Rate" is available at Maswik and Yavapai lodges. The rate is $82 per night plus tax at Maswik South and Yavapai West, and $105 per night plus tax at Maswik North and Yavapai East. These rates are available Nov. 30-March 5, excluding Dec. 19-Jan. 3 and Feb. 13-15. The rates are good for single or double occupancy. Cost for each additional person in the room is $9. Free night in San Diego
The Hotel del Coronado is offering guests a third night's lodging for free with the purchase of two nights, through Jan. 5. Rates begin at $380 per night. The hotel recently finished $150 million in improvements that include a world-class spa, fitness center, new shops and restaurants, and oceanfront cottages and villas at Beach Village. Fishing in Colorado
The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in Vail Valley, Colo., is offering a fly-fishing package this fall. The "River Explorer Package" starts at $279 for two people. It includes two nights' lodging in a deluxe unit, a fly box stocked with flies, a river map and a tip sheet highlighting fishing hot spots provided by Gore Creek Fly Fishermen. A to-go box with snacks also is included.The package is available Oct. 1-Nov. 15.
