The deal: The Thunderbird Lodge in Canyon de Chelly National Monument in Chinle is dropping its rates for winter, effective Nov. 1 through March 1. Rates at the 74-room lodge are $63 for a single room, $69 for a double, $75 for a triple and $81 for a quad. Suites are also available starting at $94.50 for two. These prices reflect a savings of up to 43 percent off summer rates. Guests who stay Saturday, Sunday or Monday nights receive a complimentary continental breakfast, 10 percent off canyon tours and 10 percent off gift-shop purchases. The Thunderbird Lodge, which sits on a site of a trading post built in 1896, is the only lodging facility in Canyon de Chelly National Monument. Rooms are equipped with satellite television, and the cafeteria-style restaurant is in the trading post's original building.

Guilt-free getaway

The deal: Parents who wish to take a break from the kids might consider the Hotel Angeleno's Guilt-Free Getaway. Through Nov. 15, the Los Angeles hotel is offering a one-night stay for two, continental breakfast, complimentary valet parking and a $50 Target gift card. Rates begin at $230 a night and are based on double occupancy. The hotel features 209 redesigned rooms, a heated outdoor pool and fitness center.
