Where to shop

Jun. 9, 2006 03:33 PM

Even if you have a week, it would be impossible to see every store in Sedona. It seems that in recent years Sedona retailers have crammed shops into every empty nook and cranny among the red rocks. Be selective or you'll exhaust yourself trying to see it all.

Uptown Sedona, at the intersection of Highways 89A and 179, is packed with T-shirt stores, gift shops, cafes and restaurants of interest to tourists.

To the south is Tlaquepaque, named for the crafts village outside Guadalajara, Mexico. A shopper could easily spend the good part of a morning wandering its five open plazas, art galleries, clothing stores and restaurants.

Outside Sedona are the Prime Outlets, with more than 35 discount stores, a big-screen movie theater and a food court.

The Sedona-Oak Creek Chamber of Commerce lists member stores on its Web site.

Sedona dining
Sedona has excellent restaurants. And despite the town's health-crazed image, it's as easy to find foie gras and French wine as vegan stir-fries.
